12 years Litigation experience
Following her admission, she continued serving at Legal Aid South Africa for approximately eight years, practising at various offices including George, Oudtshoorn, Malmesbury and Vredenburg. During this period she represented clients in a wide range of criminal matters, gained substantial courtroom experience and appeared in several high-profile matters, including representing Kelly Smith, the mother in the widely publicised Joslin Smith matter from Saldanha.
2014- Beginning of her Career
Meronique commenced her legal career in 2014 by completing her articles at Legal Aid South Africa in King William's Town, where she gained extensive experience in both criminal and civil litigation. She was admitted as an Attorney of the High Court of South Africa in 2016
2014- Appointment to the Judiciary
In 2024, Meronique transitioned into the judiciary when she was appointed as an Acting Magistrate at the George Magistrate's Court. She presided over criminal matters, domestic violence, harassment, maintenance and immigration matters. She also served as the Presiding Officer at the George Municipal Court, adjudicating traffic infringement and municipal by-law matters.
